Day 01
Singapore – Chitose – Kitayuzawa

Start your tour with a short trip to Chitose Rera Outlet Mall. With over 400 brands ranging from fashion to household items, you will have a chance to get some winter accessories before heading off to Lake Toya. En route, you will drop by Lake Shikotsu, an oligotrophic lake that rarely freezes in most winters due to the depth of its waters. On calm days, you can see the surrounding snow white mountains reflected on the placid lake surface, making for a stunning introduction to the natural beauties of Hokkaido.

Showa Shinzan or Showa new mountain is one of Japan's youngest mountains. "Born" between 1943 and 1945 amidst earthquakes, it rose from a flat wheat plain to a staggering height of 209m, and is still actively smoking today. Take a cable car ride up on the Mt. Usu Ropeway to catch a glimpse of the rather strange pairing of fire and ice. Next, get to know all about the Ainu – indigenous people of Hokkaido over at the Shiraoi Ainu Museum. Here, within reconstructed old-style Ainu houses, you can experience the ancient culture of the Ainu people from their intricate handicraft to their traditional music and dance performances.

Enjoying Hokkaido’s famous soft ice cream takes on a different feel here at Lake Hill Farm. This ice cream shop offers a good variety of home-made ice cream that is futile to resist. The most difficult decision that you will have to make today may very well be which flavor of ice cream to choose. Pumpkin, rum raisin, blue salt, yam, chestnut…the selection goes on and on. With Mt Yotei as a picture perfect backdrop, it is a dreamy place to just be and to bask in the allure of Hokkaido’s scenery, with a ice cream cone that does not melt! Thereafter, we will proceed to Fukidashi Park. It is a spring water source set on beautiful grounds where a staggering 80,000 tons of spring water sprouts forth everyday. Wondrously, the spring water has flowed and filtered through the rocks over many decades before gushing out of an outcrop at the base of Mount Yotei.

Day 04 & 05

Rusutsu Resort has something for everyone! Inside the hotel, you can enjoy the hot water wave pool with water slide, spa area or go for a free ride on the merry-go-round. The vast array of indoor activities includes handicraft workshops such as leather-working and glass fusing. Just outside the resort is a snow park (usually opens in mid-December) for young children with playground equipment and a magic carpet for tubing and sledding. For something a little more energetic, go for a snowmobile touring course, a snowmobile powered snow raft or dog sledding experience.
Rusutsu's spectacular scenery and long, wide-groomed runs on undulating slopes are some of the best in the world. Skiing directly above the resort is available on West Mountain, while the majority of terrain is spread across the gondola-linked East Mountain and its lift-linked, Mount Isola, with over 42km of runs. With 30 per cent of its terrain suitable for beginners, 40 per cent for intermediates and 30 per cent for advances, skiers of all levels will find a course of their own in Hokkaido’s famed powder snow.
Day 06
Rusutsu – Sapporo

First up for today is the charming town of Otaru. It served as Hokkaido’s major trade and fishing port since the early days of its colonization in the late 1800’s. Beautifully preserved old warehouses and former office buildings by shipping companies give Otaru its unique character. Housed in these historic buildings are music box museums, intricate glassware shops and of course, cafes serving Hokkaido’s famed cream puffs, and sweet shops. Next, feel like a kid again at Ishiya Chocolate Factory! The whimsical design of factory grounds is bound to capture your imagination and sense of fun with a garden that comes to life and trash cans that burst into song at the hour mark! Inside the building are candies in cheerful colours of the rainbow at Candy Labo and all kinds of cookies, chocolates and cakes imaginable can be found.
Day 07

Sapporo in winter is like a three-dimensional Christmas card with snow blanketing its famous sights. In your free time after dinner, do walk over to Odori Park where the Sapporo White Illumination and German Christmas Market are held. Here, you will find the TV Tower, trees and building stuctures all adorned with colourful light bulbs. The lights are powered with renewable energy, including recycled cooking oil and solar panels specially designed to produce power even in the heaviest snow season.
