Start your journey with a delicious meal of barbequed meats at the cosy Log House Wagyu Bibi Restaurant. Feast on juicy, tender wagyu beef and more at this table barbeque restaurant, guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds.
Yuni Garden is the largest herb garden in Japan that comes complete with old manors and long vistas. With thoughtful landscaping presenting a well-manicured, English-style garden, it contains 230 kinds of herbs in 10 gardens and flowers that bloom in each season. At this time, see 32,000 blazing bushes of kochia covering the hillside at Hokkaido’s largest kochia field.
This evening, have a relaxing soak in the moor hot spring. Known as the hot spring of beauty, this therapeutic hot spring water is derived from plant matter and can only be found in two places in the world, in Germany and here in Tokachigawa.

Drive along the Golden Road, a 33km long coastal road stretching from Erimo to Hiroo which underwent great difficulties and expense to build. Stop by at its observatory and admire views of the rugged coast and crashing waves.
Drive to the dramatic Cape Erimo, where the Hidaka Mountain Range ends and the sea begins. The windy cape is where you can look out onto the Pacific Ocean from rocky cliffs up to 70m high and enjoy panoramic views along with sightings of the harbour seals that live here.
Day 04 (Wed, 16 Oct'24)
Tokachi – Akan

Get up close to Hokkaido’s large brown bears at Sahoro Bear Mountain. Visitors can watch the bears roaming freely in the forest and view them from various trails, a bear point, and even a bear watching bus.
Feel the vastness of Hokkaido at Naitai Highland Farm, Japan’s largest public pasture at 1,700ha. Take a break and admire the panoramic views of the Tokachi plains from Naitai Terrace observation deck and perhaps catch sight of some of the approximately 2,000 cows which graze here.
Also known as the five-coloured lake, Lake Onneto was formed by the eruption of Mt. Meakan. Its water changes colour depending on sunlight and temperature, going from a gleaming bottle green to a deep azure. Make a stop here to see what wonderful shade it is today!

Take a sightseeing cruise out onto Lake Akan today and leisurely admire the scenic surrounds. The cruise makes a stop at Churui Island in the middle of the lake, where you can see and learn about the native marimo, moss balls which can only be found in a few lakes around the world.
Next, dig into some of Hokkaido’s bountiful seafood at Kushiro’s Washo Market. Try their famous “katte-don” a seafood rice bowl that you can customise. Browse the stalls and pick your favourite toppings from the selection of fresh seafood caught off the shores of Kushiro before tucking in!
Day 06 (Fri, 18 Oct'24)
Akan – Shiretoko

Visiting the Shibetsu Salmon Science Museum, see the largest collection of salmon species in Japan and learn all about this fish which can be seen swimming upstream in the Shibetsu River.
The Notsuke Peninsula stretching out into the Sea of Okhotsk is said to be shaped like a whale’s lower jaw. The largest sandbar in Japan, it is also known as “the end of the world” thanks to the desolate scenery of withered trees in some parts of this unique ecosystem.
Heading towards Shiretoko, drive along the Shiretoko Pass, one of the top three scenic driving routes in Japan. This 738m high pass connects Rausu and Shari and provides splendid views of Mt. Rausu, Shiretoko’s highest mountain, and Kunashiri Island along the way.

Visit the Shiretoko Nature Center to learn all about the Shiretoko National Park. Take the trail from the centre down to Furepe Waterfall, a waterfall fed by ground water that crashes into the Sea of Okhotsk below.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Shiretoko Five Lakes look whimsically like a god’s handprint and can be visited via an elevated boardwalk to protect the fragile ecosystems. From here, you can enjoy views of the lake, Sea of Okhotsk and surrounding mountains.
Learn more about Shiretoko’s wildlife on a Night Safari this evening. Get a guided introduction to the wild animals which inhabit Shiretoko before taking a ride into the forest to see if you can spot any of them!
Day 08 (Sun, 20 Oct'24)
Shiretoko – Abashiri

One of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls, Oshinkoshin Waterfall is a spectacular waterfall next to a coastal road. It is also known as “Twin Beauties Waterfall” as its stream splits into two partway down the approximately 80m drop. Climb the stairs next to the falls to get up close to this powerful waterfall.
Move on to the queer sight of Mt Iou, an active volcano peppered with vents emitting plumes of smoke and sulphur. The yellow sulphur dotting the barren landscape of the mountain gives it an unusual speckled appearance.
Visit one of the clearest lakes in the world, Lake Mashu, known as “Kamuy-tou” in the Ainu language, meaning “Lake of the Gods”. This name comes as no surprise given the spectacular views of the clear water and surrounding sheer cliffs that can be seen from the observatory.

Nestled in the Sounkyo Gorge, the twin waterfalls of Ginga & Ryusei are among the best 100 waterfalls in Japan. Often referred to as husband-and-wife falls, the silvery thin rivulets of Ginga and powerful burst of Ryusei give each a distinct character. The sight of the waterfalls thundering down a 90m rocky cliff flanked by bright autumn leaves is an unforgettable sight.
Take the Kurodake Ropeway up to one of the highest peaks in the Daisetsu Mountain Range for some panoramic views of the surroundings. Travelling up to an altitude of 1,300m, enjoy the expansive views and alpine plants on Mt Kurodake.

More often seen in pictures, you can see the real Shirogane Blue Pond for yourself today. The azure blue of the water is caused by its mineral composition and makes a fascinating sight juxtaposed against its sombre grey trees and lush forests.
Arriving at the gently rolling hills of Shikisai no Oka, the “Hill of Four Seasons”, enjoy the seasonal blooms in full glory here. The vast expanse of flower fields spreads across an area equivalent to three Tokyo Domes and showcases flowers like kochia and poppies in autumn.
A lovely café located atop a hill, Furano Delice serves up decadent desserts made with locally-produced Furano milk and Hokkaido cheese. Their signature cheesecake and creamy custard pudding are not to be missed!

A free and easy day in Sapporo awaits you! As Japan’s fifth largest city, Sapporo has developed rapidly into a bustling metropolis. Options for shopping are abundant, both above and underground, with multi-storey department stores such as Daimaru and Tokyu lining the streets, and a network of stores offering souvenirs, apparel, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, and more, underground. When you are satisfied with your shopping spree, head to one of the many eateries to have a steaming bowl of Hokkaido’s signature miso ramen, soup curry, or Genghis Khan barbeque to complete your Hokkaido experience.
