Begin your drive with beautiful flowers at Awaji Hanasajiki, a flower park with blooms in all seasons. In this period, the vast flower fields are filled with spring flowers like canola and viola. Enjoy the spread of flowers along with the panoramic view of the Osaka Bay laid out before you.
Catch sight of the Naruto whirlpools from Eska Hill Naruto, a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. The swirling whirlpools are created by the clashing of the currents when the tide changes and can only be seen a few time a day.
In the evening, you can head over to the Awa Odori Kaikan to catch a performance of Awa Odori, one of Japan’s most famous traditional dances, and learn a few steps for yourself!

Tokushima – Iya

Take the Bizan Ropeway 290m up the mountain for splendid panoramic views of Tokushima City and the surrounding mountains, up to Awaji Island and the Kii peninsula on clear days. From this vantage point, you can see the blooming cherry blossoms around the city clearly.
The most famous attraction in Takamatsu, Ritsurin Garden is a Place of Scenic Beauty considered by some to be one of the best gardens in in Japan. The large garden consists of a Japanese and Western style garden filled with ponds, pavilions and carefully curated landscapes against the borrowed scenery of Mt Shiun in the background. With so many varied elements, it is said that the scenery changes with every step as you stroll around the garden.
Sanuki Manno Park is a sprawling state park known for its seasonal flowers which bloom in turn throughout the year. Surround yourself with thousands of beautiful blooming flowers such as narcissus and cherry blossoms as you venture through the expansive park.

Explore the sights of Iya valley today with a visit first to the Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridges. Made up of two bridges, a larger 44m ‘husband’ bridge upstream and a smaller 22m ‘wife’ bridge downstream, the picturesque bridges made from vine are reinforced by steel cables and rebuilt every three years. Moving on to the largest and most famous vine bridge, Kazurabashi, take an exhilarating walk across the 45m long bridge as it sways 14m over the Iya River below.
Later, take a sightseeing boat down Oboke Gorge, a narrow ravine created by the flow of the Yoshino River over 200 million years. A Natural Monument surrounded on both sides by impressive rock formations, leisurely admire the wonderous scenery pointed out by the boatman as you sail down the emerald river.

Pay a visit to Monet’s Garden Marmottan in Kitagawa Village, Claude Monet’s only garden outside of France. Recreating the world of Monet’s masterpieces in three areas, the garden is likened to a ‘living museum’ of plants bearing the impression of his works.
Part of the Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark, Cape Muroto is where you can see fantastic geological formations rising from the seabed. Marvel at the wonderous natural rock formations peppered with coastal and subtropical vegetation as you walk along the scenic coast.

Fully admire the stunning Niyodo Blue today! Referring to the splendid blue-green hues of the Niyodo River’s crystal clear waters flowing through Kochi, Niyodo Blue can be enjoyed at stops such as Nikobuchi, a sacred waterfall basin and birthplace of Niyodo Blue, and Nakatsu Valley, where rock formations, waterfalls and turquoise pools hide. Over at Yasui Gorge, admire the contrast of lush greenery against the clear flowing stream, azure basins and crashing waterfalls.
Upstream of Niyodo Blue, drop by at the Hyotan Sakura Park, home to a 500-year old cherry tree and Natural Monument. Hyotan Sakura is a variety known for gourd-shaped flower buds and can be seen blooming here against a wonderful view of the mountains.

Take a stroll along the Sakawa Cherry Tree Path this morning. Located in the charming old town of Sakawa, the cherry trees lining the banks of the Kasuga River bring springtime cheer to the heart of the town.
Head over to the Kure Taishomachi Market for some fresh seafood for lunch. This lively, old-style fish market is where you can find the day’s fresh catch, vegetables, fruits and more. Try the popular Kure-don, a bowl of rice topped with your choice of fresh seafood, and Kochi specialty, katsuo no tataki here.
Visit the southernmost point of Shikoku at Cape Ashizuri later. From here, you will be rewarded with 270 degree views of the seascape, which allows you to see the curvature of the earth. Admire the wonderful views along with the beautiful white Ashizuri lighthouse, one of the largest in Japan.

Dive into nature at Nametoko Gorge, a beautiful gorge replete with impressive rock formations, waterfalls, forested paths and moss-covered rocks. Regarded as a power spot, the gorge is a popular spot to enjoy a walk in nature.
Admire the vast landscapes at Shikoku Karst Natural Park, one of Japan’s three largest karst topographies on the border of Ehime and Kochi. Dotted with limestone formations and sinkholes, you can see stunning views of Mt Ishizuchi and the surrounding mountains, lush meadows where cows graze, and scenic roads where the sky feels close enough to touch.
Pay a visit to Matsuyama Castle, one of Japan’s 12 original castles. Located at the top of Mt Katsuyama, the historical castle and museum provides a bird’s eye view of Matsuyama and the Seto Inland Sea along with its castle grounds filled with 200 blooming cherry trees.

Imabari City is known for its quality towels and is the largest towel producer in Japan. At its unique Towel Museum, you can learn about the history and meticulous manufacturing process of towels from raw cotton to final product, see towel-related artworks, and pick up some quality towels for yourself.
Take in the views from Senkoji Park, located on a mountainside overlooking Onomichi City. A cable car ride to the summit brings you panoramic views of the quaint port city, with the red-lacquered Senkoji Temple a short hike away. In spring, the park is also filled with blooming cherry blossoms from 1,500 cherry trees.

Take a ferry to Miyajima today, home to one of Japan’s most photographed sights and one of its top three most scenic views. The red-lacquered complex of Itsukushima Shrine and its famous torii gate seemingly float on water, painting a perfect picture of beauty and calm. Aside from this well-known shrine, Miyajima also contains many other shrines and temples, virgin forests, Mt. Misen and free-roaming deer.
