Singapore – Chitose – Noboribetsu

Arriving in Hokkaido on a direct flight from Singapore, head to Lake Shikotsu to enjoy scenic views around the second deepest lake in Japan. This caldera lake’s crystal-clear waters often act as a mirror reflecting the snow-capped mountains that surround it. Take a relaxing stroll along its shores and surround yourself with the grandness of nature at this photogenic location.
Warm your tummies with a delicious meal of barbequed meats next at the cosy Log House Wagyu Bibi Restaurant. Feast on juicy, tender wagyu beef and more at this table barbeque restaurant, guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds.
Stopping by at the Noboribetsu Hell Valley, you can see the source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters which you will get to enjoy tonight. With patches of barren landscape, clouds of steam spouting from vents, flowing streams of hot spring water and the heavy smell of sulphur permeating the air, it is not difficult to understand why this place is called “hell valley”.

A theme park of a different kind, Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura is a historical theme park showcasing life during the Edo period. Traditional style houses line the small street while staff in period costumes propel you back to that era. Enjoy various traditional games, activities and performances, and mingle with ninja and oiran courtesans! Challenge the ninja maze full of tricks and illusions and spend an enjoyable afternoon discovering Japan of the past.
Modelled after Denmark’s Egeskov Castle, Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe is a theme park that is home to around 20,000 marine creatures and other animals of about 400 different species. You can watch shows put on by dolphins and sea lions, see penguins on parade, witness a ‘milky way’ of over 10,000 sardines and watch seals ‘fly’ through a vertical ring-shaped tank.
Day 03 (Fri, 27 Dec’19)
Noboribetsu – Lake Toya

Try your hand at ice fishing today! A unique wintertime activity, head out to a private pond where the almost 2 feet thick layer of ice and snow hide a wealth of active trout in the waters below! Experience walking on the frozen surface of the pond, drilling a fishing hole and see how many big, fat trout you can catch!
Following a warm lunch, head to the Shikotsu-Toya National Park to see Mt Usu, an active volcano that stands at 737 metres high. Take the Mt Usu Ropeway up the side of the mountain for a panoramic view of the spectacular snowy mountains and surrounding landscapes, along with neighbouring Showa Shinzan and Lake Toya.
Day 04 (Sat, 28 Dec’19)
Lake Toya – Otaru

Start the day with a sweet treat at Lake Hill Farm, a gelato shop and restaurant on a small hill. Serving up 20 varieties of gelato made using milk from the farm itself, try the seasonal flavours made using locally produced fruits and vegetables.
Next, head to Fukidashi Park and sample the sweet spring water that flows down from Mt. Yotei, Hokkaido’s Mt. Fuji. Nestled at the foot of the mountain, 80,000 tons of water filtered down from the peak gushes out each day. Don’t forget to do as the locals do and bring an empty bottle to collect some of it!
Get ready for an afternoon of exhilarating winter activity with a snowmobile ride and play in the snow! Drive a snowmobile through the open snowfields and feel the thrill as you speed past the white landscapes of Hokkaido!
Day 05 (Sun, 29 Dec’19)
Otaru – Sapporo

Spend the morning wandering round the quaint streets of Otaru today. A former major herring centre and the terminal station for Hokkaido’s first railroad, the charming buildings that line the streets now house whimsical music box museums, patisseries selling mouth-watering creations, and intricate glassware ornaments. Also notable is Otaru’s sushi street, where only the freshest seafood makes it to the menu in every sushi restaurant along the row. Try your hand at sushi making and gain a greater appreciation for Japan’s signature food as you learn how to make your own sushi! Polish off your original sushi creations in a fulfilling lunch, made even more satisfying having been prepared by yourself!
Moving on to Sapporo, visit the Sapporo Curb Market, a collection of nearly 80 stores outside Sapporo’s central wholesale market. Specialising in seafood, and you can get some of the freshest ones here. Try some of the seasonal offerings from the various stalls and pick up some Hokkaido souvenirs.
Hokkaido’s chocolate haven and home of the popular Shiroi Koibito langue de chat, Shiroi Koibito Park is a whimsical theme park dedicated to chocolate. Get a glimpse into the production process of its famous biscuits, learn the history of chocolate, and perhaps decorate your own original cookies! Indulge in a world of chocolate goodness at the park where its sweet aroma surrounds you!
Day 06 (Mon, 30 Dec’19)
Sapporo

A free and easy day in Sapporo awaits you! As Japan’s fifth largest city, Sapporo has developed rapidly into a bustling metropolis. Options for shopping are abundant, both above and underground, with multi-storey department stores such as Daimaru and Esta lining the streets, and a network of stores offering souvenirs, apparel, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, and more, underground. When you are satisfied with your shopping spree, stop by at the Ramen Republic for a steaming bowl of Hokkaido’s signature miso ramen to complete your Hokkaido experience.
