Start your trip right with a delicious meal of barbequed meats at the cosy Log House Wagyu Bibi Restaurant. Feast on juicy, tender wagyu beef and more at this table barbeque restaurant, guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds.
Walk off your meal along the shore of the beautiful Lake Shikotsu. This crater lake formed over 40,000 years ago is one of the deepest and clearest lakes in Japan. Take a glass-bottomed boat cruise on the lake to truly appreciate its natural beauty.
Stopping by at the Noboribetsu Hell Valley, you can see the source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters which you will get to enjoy tonight. With patches of barren landscape, clouds of steam spouting from vents, flowing streams of hot spring water and the heavy smell of sulphur permeating the air, it is not difficult to understand why this place is called “hell valley”.
Day 02 (Wed, 05 Jun’19)
Noboribetsu

Modelled after Denmark’s Egeskov Castle, Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe is a theme park that is home to around 20,000 marine creatures and other animals of about 400 different species. You can watch shows put on by dolphins and sea lions, see penguins on parade, witness a ‘milky way’ of over 10,000 sardines and watch seals ‘fly’ through a vertical ring-shaped tank.
Moving on to a theme park of a different kind, Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura is a historical theme park showcasing life during the Edo period. Traditional style houses line the small street while staff in period costumes propel you back to that era. Enjoy various traditional games, activities and performances, and mingle with ninja and oiran courtesans! Challenge the ninja maze full of tricks and illusions and spend an enjoyable afternoon discovering Japan of the past.
Day 03 (Thu, 06 Jun’19)
Noboribetsu – Rusutsu

Born from an earthquake during the second world war, Showa Shinzan is a considerably new mountain that was kept a secret for years as it was considered a bad omen during the war. Now, the 398m high mountain next to Mt Usu in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park is a well-known active volcano that continues to emit sulphurous fumes. Taking the ropeway up Mt Usu, you will be able to get a fantastic view of the mountain and nearby Lake Toya.
Stop by for a sweet treat at Lake Hill Farm, a gelato shop and restaurant on a small hill. Serving up 20 varieties of gelato made using milk from the farm itself, try the seasonal flavours made using locally produced fruits and vegetables.
Visit Fukidashi Park and sample the sweet spring water that flows down from Mt. Yotei, Hokkaido’s Mt. Fuji. Nestled at the foot of the mountain, 80,000 tons of water filtered down from the peak gushes out each day. Don’t forget to do as the locals do and bring an empty bottle to collect some of it!
Day 04 (Fri, 07 Jun’19)
Rusutsu

Engage in any of a plethora of activities (additional payment may be required) available at your doorstep at Rusutsu Resort! If the weather conditions are right, wake up bright and early to catch the sea of low-lying clouds roll over the hills below Mt. Yotei, a phenomenon known as ‘unkai’. Then spend the day rafting or canoeing at the river, or swimming at the pool, a mini water park with many slides. Outdoor lovers can choose to go hiking, biking, fishing, or even paragliding! Indoor activities such as bouldering, crafts and cooking are also available for the less adventurous, and there is always the on-site amusement park to entertain the whole family.
Day 05 (Sat, 08 Jun’19)
Rusutsu – Sapporo

Take in the wonderful scenic views at Cape Kamui, located on the beautiful Shakotan Peninsula. The picturesque rugged coast of the cape is breath-taking against the crystal-clear water in the shade of “Shakotan blue”
Head to Otaru next and spend the afternoon wandering round its quaint streets. A former major herring centre and the terminal station for Hokkaido’s first railroad, the charming buildings that line the streets now house whimsical music box museums, patisseries selling mouth-watering creations, and intricate glassware ornaments. Also worth checking out is Otaru’s sushi street, where only the freshest seafood makes it to the menu in every sushi restaurant along the row.
Get a taste of a Japanese festival at the Yosakoi Soran Festival held in central Sapporo over this weekend! Merging Kochi’s yosakoi dance festival with Hokkaido’s traditional folk song, Soran Bushi, Yosakoi Soran is an energetic dance display to the sound of wooden naruko clappers. Watch as different teams dance their hearts out with original choreography, colourful costumes and lots of energy! Or if you’d like to be part of the action, rent a pair of clappers and sign up to dance along in the parade!
Day 06 (Sun, 09 Jun’19)

This morning, visit the Sapporo Curb Market, a collection of nearly 80 stores outside Sapporo’s central wholesale market. Specialising in seafood, and you can get some of the freshest ones here. Try some of the seasonal offerings from the various stalls and pick up some Hokkaido souvenirs.
The setting for the 1972 Winter Olympics, the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium has been hosting many ski events and competitions since. When it is not used for events, a ride on the chair lift with bring you a fantastic view of Sapporo from the top of the ski jump. At its foot, the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum is where you can find out about the 1972 Olympics and different types of winter sports. There are also simulation games where you can experience ski jumping, bob sledding and ice skating.
On the final day of the Yosakoi Soran Festival, watch as the teams dance their way through the street in a final parade, and see which team will be crowned the winners for this year. Take in the energetic atmosphere and try all the different kinds of street food, drinks and snacks on sale at the festival stalls.
