Arriving in Hokkaido this afternoon, start off with a satisfying meal of local produce before taking in the vast scenery of Hokkaido as you travel down the Roller Coaster Road to your next destination. So named for its many up and down slopes, the road traverses the open farmlands and hills of Kamifurano at the base of the Tokachi mountain range.
Arriving at the gently rolling hills of Shikisai no Oka, the “Hill of Four Seasons”, enjoy the seasonal blooms in full glory here. The vast expanse of flower fields spreads across an area equivalent to three Tokyo Domes and showcases flowers like kochia and poppies in autumn.
Day 02 (Sun, 01 Oct’23)
Asahikawa – Sounkyo

Established in 1968, CondeHouse is a globally renowned furniture maker from Asahikawa. Using Hokkaido wood and expert craftsmanship, they strive to create handcrafted furniture which embody a respect for nature and consideration for people. Pay a visit to their factory this morning to see how they create such high-quality and well-loved furniture.
Autumn colours start from early September at Mt Kurodake, making it one of the earliest places to welcome the season. Over a month, the colours slowly spread down the mountain, covering it with fiery red trees. Taking the Kurodake Ropeway up the mountain, you will get to see the colourful trees covering the mountain, and a spectacular view of the gorge below.

Sounkyo – Tokachi

Feel the vastness of Hokkaido this morning at Naitai Highland Farm, Japan’s largest public pasture at 1,700ha. Take a break and admire the panoramic views of the Tokachi plains from Naitai Terrace observation deck and perhaps catch sight of some of the approximately 2,000 cows which graze here.
This evening, have a relaxing soak in the moor hot spring. Known as the hot spring of beauty, this therapeutic hot spring water is derived from plant matter and can only be found in two places in the world, in Germany and here in Tokachigawa. Enjoy this exceptional hot spring water from the comfort of your private hot spring bath in your room.
Day 04 (Tue, 03 Oct’23)
Tokachi

One of the best parts of travelling is the joy of meeting and interacting with the locals. Today, feel the warmth and passion of the locals in our special Tokachi Activity Day. The pastoral landscapes of Tokachi is the best place to see the real Hokkaido with its fertile farmlands and sprawling fields.
Pay a visit to Fukuhara Sanso later, a gorgeous garden that is a popular autumn viewing spot amongst locals. This private garden is open to the public for only one month every year, coinciding with the autumn colours, and features tranquil ponds and paths surrounded by brightly coloured trees.
Day 05 (Wed, 04 Oct’23)
Tokachi – Jozankei

Travelling down to Jozankei today, you will visit Hoheikyo Dam, a beautiful arched dam surrounded by primeval forest that can only be accessed by riding an electric bus through a one kilometre tunnel. This place is rich with stunning scenery and especially popular for autumn foliage viewing. Vibrant reds and yellows of the season create a wonderful juxtaposition against the sombre grey concrete that can be viewed through gaps in the dam wall.

Day 06 (Thu, 05 Oct’23)

This morning, stop by at the Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort where you will take an ‘autumn gondola’ ride up the mountain. A popular local skiing spot in winter, the mountain is awash with vivid yellows and reds each autumn and is best enjoyed on a ropeway ride likened to an aerial stroll above the autumn scenery.
Head to Otaru next and spend some time leisurely wandering its quaint streets. A former major herring centre and the terminal station for Hokkaido’s first railroad, the charming buildings that line the streets now house whimsical music box museums, patisseries selling mouth-watering creations, and intricate glassware ornaments. Also worth checking out is Otaru’s sushi street, where only the freshest seafood makes it to the menu in every sushi restaurant along the row.

Sapporo

A free and easy day in Sapporo awaits you! As Japan’s fifth largest city, Sapporo has developed rapidly into a bustling metropolis. Options for shopping are abundant, both above and underground, with multi-storey department stores such as Daimaru and Tokyu lining the streets, and a network of stores offering souvenirs, apparel, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, and more, underground. When you are satisfied with your shopping spree, head to one of the many eateries to have a steaming bowl of Hokkaido’s signature miso ramen, soup curry, or Genghis Khan barbeque to complete your Hokkaido experience.
