The seaside town of Kamakura is a great first stop for your journey. The 11.4-metre-high bronze statue of Amida Buddha is the second tallest in Japan and has been kept intact since its construction in the mid-13th century, outlasting its surrounding building.
A popular nature site near Tokyo, Mt Takao attracts millions of visitors each year. Take Japan’s steepest cable car incline up the side of the mountain and admire breath-taking views of Tokyo city from the observation deck. Stroll along some of the mountain trails for some exercise and fresh mountain air!

Known as the “spring of the gods”, Oshino Hakkai is a set of eight springs fed by the snow melt from Mt Fuji. Spring water is filtered down through layers of soil for 80 years, resulting in crystal clear water that is one of the top 100 spring waters in Japan. The cold water is available for drinking at the source, and also fills deceptively deep ponds of freshwater plants and fish.
Enter the enchanting world of Fuji Kachoen Garden Park, a flower garden and bird sanctuary. See beautiful flowers all year round including fuchsias, unique hydrangeas, and even a Mt Fuji replica made from begonias! Not forgetting our feathered friends, get up close and interact with penguins, emus, flamingos and up to 30 species of owls.
Over at Makaino Ranch, meet some adorable farm animals like horses, sheep, cows and goats! Interact with the animals in a variety of activities like horse riding and milking cows, play in the playgrounds and outdoor spaces, and try some of the ranch made specialties like milk and cheese.
Heading to the southern slopes of Mt Fuji, live your safari dreams at Fuji Safari Park! You can drive through the safari zone in your own car and observe animals roaming freely around you! See lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, rhinoceroses, zebras and bison up close on this safari experience!

An ancient Buddhist temple founded in 807 by Kobo Daishi, a prominent Buddhist teacher, Shuzenji Temple is one of Japan’s important cultural properties. As the setting of the rise and fall of the Minamoto clan, the beautiful temple is rich in history and has been awarded 2 stars in the Michelin Green Guide.

Shaped like an upside-down bowl, Mt Omuro is an extinct volcano covered in mountain grass with a 300-metre-wide crater. Take a chair lift up the mountain to stroll round the crater and be treated to 360-degree panoramic views of the surroundings which include Mt Fuji, Hakone and the seven islands of Izu.
Take a sightseeing boat around Dogashima, the best way to see the area’s fantastic stone formations, cliffs and caves, formed over many years by volcanic eruptions and erosion by the sea. Sail into Tensodo Cave, a large cave with aquamarine blue water reflecting on the walls and a big hole in the ceiling from which the rays of sunlight streams through.
A gushing waterfall backed by basalt cliffs, the Joren Waterfall is located along the Kano River in a quiet forest. Surrounded by trees and the roaring spray of the falls dropping from a height of 25 metres, the air here feels cool even in the middle of summer.
Day 06

The beautiful Lake Ashi with Mt Fuji in the background is probably the scene most people think of when Hakone comes to mind. The Hakone Open Air Museum is an art lover’s paradise with unique art pieces spread across 70,000 square metres of open space.
