Karuizawa is an upscale resort town located at the foot of Mt.Asama and 2km from Karuizawa train station. Access to the resort town is relatively easy from Tokyo by Hokuriku Shinkansen where it takes about 70 minutes.

The resort is a popular place to be at as various outdoor activities are made available throughout the year. Their unfussy rooms also have wood-paneled ceilings, this is the destination for those wanting a trip to Japan but also escape to a refined solace and some classy ambience.

Advanced snowmaking capabilities allow Karuizawa to open by early November each year. Furthermore, a variety of trails geared mainly towards beginner and intermediate skiers. Karuizawa also provides a detailed terrain park which opens from late December to late March (schedule may change due to snow conditions) with various features and a Kids' Park with sledding, tubing and other snow fun.

The ski hill is located close to the famous Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza. Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza which has about 240 shops, these outlets stores provide last season's items at marked down prices. Besides the outlets' stores, you can enjoy the facilities such as onsen, spa treatment, fitness gym, table tennis and bowling as well. 

Compared to The Prince Karuizawa West & the Karuizawa Prince Hotel East, The Karuizawa Prince Hotel West has a wonderful souvenir & essentials shop located in the lobby. It also boasts 4 type of restaurants to choose from, such as western style buffet restaurant, stylish Chinese or Japanese eateries with local fresh vegetables. The lounge Manon is also available for some cakes, tea or cocktails in the evening. You can spend purifying tea time in a refreshing location, surrounded by the natural beauty of Karuizawa. At night, lounge even becomes a bar!
