Over at the Hakodate Morning Market, take in the sights and sounds of a bustling market where ‘fresh’ is the order of the day. Enjoying Hokkaido’s famous soft cream takes on a different feeling here at the Lake Hill Farm this winter. This ice cream shop offers a variety of home-made ice cream that is as wide as they are absolutely oishii. With Mt Yotei as a breathtakingly gorgeous backdrop, there is no better way to relax and enjoy this part of Hokkaido’s scenery with a cone of ice cream that will not melt. Be prepared to be faced with the rather difficult decision of deciding which ice cream flavour to have. Pumpkin, rum and raisin, blue salt, yam, chestnut…the list goes on and on.

Lake Toya – Sapporo
(Coach: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel or similar
This morning, we will proceed to Fukidashi Park, a spring water source set in a beautiful park where a staggering 80,000 tons of fresh spring water gushes out daily. This spring water originates from snow melt from the top of Mt Yotei, flowing and filtering through the rocks over a period of 50 to 100 years before sprouting out of an outcrop at the base. En route to Sapporo, you will visit the charming town of Otaru. It served as Hokkaido’s major trade and fishing port since the early days of its colonization in the late 1800’s. Beautifully preserved old warehouses and former office buildings of shipping companies give Otaru a unique character. Housed in these historic buildings are music box museums, intricate glassware shops, sweet shops and of course, cafes serving Hokkaido’s ever popular cream puffs.
