Departure date: 15th Apr, 2017 (Sat) Coach Tour
Day 00
Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for flight to Haneda.
Day 01
Singapore – Haneda – Noto – Wakura Onsen
(C: -/L/D)
Hotel: Aenokaze (Hot Spring) or similar
The Wajima Morning Market has to be the best introduction to Ishikawa. With friendly locals selling freshly-caught seafood, seasonal produce from surrounding mountains and beautiful lacquerware, this market is symbolic of the charms of Ishikawa. Before heading to your hotel for a good rest, you will visit Le Musee De H. The renowned patissier Hironobu Tsujiguchi was born right here in Nanao city and his café will provide you with many blissful moments – from your first step into the beautifully designed interiors to the heavenly pastries that are as beautiful to admire as they are to eat.
Day 02
Wakura Onsen – Toyama
(C: B/L/D)
Hotel: ANA Crowne Plaza Toyama or similar
First up this morning is the Chirihama Nagisa Beach driveway. Over here, you can drive along miles of unspoilt golden sands with rolling waves as gentle company. Driving along the coast here is an experience of a Japan far removed from the major cities of the eastern seaboard. The pace of life is slow and the people warm and friendly. Built around the six attributes of a prefect garden, Kenrokuen is one of Japan’s top three most beautiful gardens and the most recognizable representative of Ishikawa. This sprawling hill-top garden is spectacular as the warmth of spring coaxes the 400 cherry trees to blossom.
Day 03
Toyama – Alpine Route – Toyama
(C: B/L/D)
Hotel: ANA Crowne Plaza Toyama or similar
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is an amazing journey though some of the most spectacular scenery in Japan. This route was carefully built with lots of scenic sites to see and that the surrounding environment is not damaged. Consequently, three lines go entirely under tunnels; among them, two are trolleybus lines. Trolleybuses have all gone from Japan, except for these two lines which are still used here as they don't exhaust gas. This crossing is particularly popular with visitors especially in mid-April to mid-June for views of the snow corridor. Traversing the Alpine Route, you will take a combination of cable cars, trolley buses and a ropeway above, through and over the Japan Alps to complete the journey.
Day 05
Okuhida – Gero Onsen
(C: B/L/D)
Hotel: Gero Onsen Sasara (Hot Spring) or similar
Sampling local fare is a favourite pastime for visitors to Takayama. While there are plenty of opportunities to do this throughout Takayama's charming streets, stepping into one of the numerous sake breweries in the Takayama Old Town is going to be worthwhile even if only to breathe the heady aromas and wander among the sake vats. A visit to miso shops is also recommended, as you can see bubbling pots of fresh miso with small paper cups around and feel free to help yourself to a taste! Another charming traditional Japanese town that you will be visiting today is Hida Furukawa, very much like Hida Takayama, albeit with lesser visitors and less shops. On any visit during the warmer months, colourful carp can be found swimming about in the canal, which is lined on either side by old warehouses with dazzling white walls, giving a wonderful serene influence to the area.
Day 06
Gero Onsen – Nagoya
(C: B/L/D)
Hotel: Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel or similar
During the Edo period, five roadways connecting Edo to the outlying areas. The Nakasendo, running through Central Japan and linking Edo to Kyoto, was one of them. Magome is one of the sixty-nine post towns that line the Nakasendo. The history of the place is almost palpable as you follow the scenic cobblestone road that winds its way up the Kiso Valley.
Day 07
Nagoya
(C: B/-/-)
Hotel: Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel or similar
The shopping scene in Nagoya ranges from big departmental stores to street and flea markets and a whole lot more in between. On your free day here, you can start at Nagoya Station because of its central location surrounded by big players like Takashimaya and Meitetsu Department Stores. It also helps that the actual station is built on top of huge underground malls. Another good choice, and if you have time, make a trip to Osu Shotengai, a shopping arcade in Nagoya's Old Town.
