Arriving in Ishikawa today, first replenish your energy with a delectable sake pairing lunch at eau feu, an auberge and restaurant set in an old school building in the idyllic countryside of Kanagaso. Helmed by chef Itoi Shota, the youngest winner of the RED U-35 culinary grand prix, feed both your stomach and your soul with his culinary interpretations of Kanagaso’s rich nature, paired perfectly with sake.
For dinner, have a satisfying meal of Kanazawa’s sushi. With its location near the Sea of Japan, you can be assured that only the freshest seafood is used on the menu. The high rainfall of the area also produces delicious rice which perfectly complements the seafood.

The wealth of the Kaga domain during the Edo period enabled many samurai to build large residences, many of which have been preserved in modern day Kanazawa. At the Nagamachi Samurai District, cobblestone streets and earthen walls characterise the samurai houses, some of which can be visited for an insight into these former samurai estates. Go on a special SDGs-focused tour of the district and learn how their preservation comes into play in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Following that, visit the icon of Kanazawa, Kenrokuen, one of Japan’s three most beautiful landscape gardens. Pine trees held up by yukitsuri, a Japanese technique used to protect branches from heavy snow, are a signature of the garden in winter and create a stunning image when reflected on the calm surface of the Kasumigaike pond. Take a special tour of Kenrokuen alongside a garden specialist to learn what goes into curating one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan.
After lunch, take a stroll around the Higashi Chaya District. Chaya, or teahouses, are where geisha have been entertaining guests with music and dancing since the Edo period. Many of these immaculately preserved traditional wooden houses have been converted into cafes and shops selling local specialities such as tea, gold leaf products and Japanese sweets, but a few remain as geisha houses, providing a brief glimpse into their lives.
This evening, you will be in for a treat with an exclusive dinner held inside Kanazawa Castle. Located in the heart of the city, Kanazawa Castle was the former seat of power for the Kaga domain, one of the wealthiest in feudal Japan. Having been painstakingly reconstructed after most of its buildings were lost to natural disasters, the castle now stands as a symbol of the city. With the whole castle reserved just for Follow Me Japan’s guests, sit down to a course meal reminiscent of those served to feudal lords in a restricted area of the castle specially opened to you for the occasion.

Step into the world of Noh, Japan’s oldest theatrical art form and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, at the Kanazawa Noh Museum. Built on the site of a former Noh theatre, the museum aims to pass on the traditional culture and art of Noh, especially Kaga Hosho, a local form of Noh developed in Kanazawa. Learn all about this dramatic art form and see the exquisite paraphernalia used in Noh plays.
Later, appreciate some modern art set amid natural settings as you view works from the Oku-Noto Triennale. Held once every three years, local and international artists convene in Suzu at the tip of the peninsula to create contemporary artworks in collaboration with the local surrounds. View some of the permanent displays and learn the inspiration behind the creative expressions.
Escape into a luxurious getaway at your accommodation at Matsu no Midori, an all-inclusive ryokan akin to a museum with prized local crafts adorning its interior. Savour mouth-watering seasonal cuisine, lounge in comfort with views of the serene bay, and partake in an authentic tea ceremony at a dedicated tea room.

In operation for over 1,000 years, the Wajima Morning Market is one of the three largest markets in Japan. Started by lacquerware artisans’ wives, the market is where you can find fresh seafood, produce, crafts, souvenirs and more. This morning, go on a special tour of the market while guided by a chef who will show you the ropes on how to procure the best ingredients. Following which, you will feast on a lunch of these fresh foods at Michelin 1-star French restaurant L’Atelier de Noto.
Next, visit the Wajima Museum of Urushi Art where you will be introduced to the exquisite artform of Wajima lacquerware by a craftsman. Learn first-hand about the great expertise and over 100 processes required to create this exceptional lacquerware and gain a new appreciation for these functional works of art.

Considered the most important shrine in the Noto, Keta Taisha Shrine is believed to have existed since 2,100 years ago. It enshrines Okuniushi, the deity of love, making it a popular power spot among those looking for love. Witness a Shinto ceremony performed at the shrine before partaking in a traditional post-ceremony feast.
Established in 1892, Seirinji Temple is most well-known for its rest house which hosted Emperor Taisho on an imperial visit in 1909. Such rest houses were usually demolished after official visits, but the temple chose to preserve this building which has become a rare specimen of its kind from the Meiji era and recognised as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Admire the gorgeous architecture and views fit for an emperor as you enjoy a tea ceremony here this afternoon.
