Day 01
Singapore – Nagoya – Miyazaki

Kyushu has a beautiful mix of natural sights, history and folklore. Arriving in Miyazaki Prefecture today, you will first get a taste of the local seafood delicacies and have a relaxing afternoon at the hotel.
Day 02
Miyazaki – Kirishima

Begin your day with a visit to the Sekino-o Falls. With some of the world’s largest pot-holes found here, this is a great example of the scale and beauty of the nature that South Kyushu has to offer. Next, you will partake in FMJ customers’ favourite activity in South Kyushu - Follow Me Kitchen! Showcasing seasonal local ingredients, the local residents put a lot of heart and joy into the food preparation. This is where you will find both your heart and stomach filled!
Day 03
Kirishima

Today is the day you will visit Sakurajima - the symbol of Kagoshima. Rising dramatically out of the Kagoshima Bay, this wild untamed heart of Kagoshima is one of Japan’s most active volcanoes and a sight to remember. In the afternoon, you can go for a walk around the Japanese garden of Senganen. Using Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay as “borrowed scenery”, you will enjoy the intricate ponds, shrines, bamboo grove, as well as a wide variety of colourful plants. Providing a glimpse into the lifestyles of feudal lords, the garden has been passed down the Shimazu clan for over 350 years.
Day 04
Kirishima – Kagoshima

Ever wondered where the traditional armour and props used in Japanese movies and TV dramas come from? Marutake Sangyo from Kagoshima produces more than 90% of those items and brings ancient Japan into the present! Now you will have the rare opportunity to try on some authentic samurai armour replicas and experience the samurai spirit for a day.
Day 05
Kagoshima – Yakushima

To the south of Kyushu lies the island of Yakushima, which rises dramatically out of the Pacific Ocean like an emerald green castle. This is the place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life; to lose yourself in the verdant rainforests, full of fairytale-like trees with twisted moss-covered roots. Designated as Japan’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Yakushima is home to some of the world’s oldest cedar trees like the Jomon Sugi, which is estimated to pre-date even the Roman Empire. Right here on this 505 square kilometre island, one can move from a subtropical climate to a temperate climate as you move deeper into its incredibly mountainous interior. This is akin to experiencing an Okinawa climate in Jurong to that of Hokkaido in Changi!
Day 06
Yakushima

Shiratani Unsuikyo is a lush, green nature park containing a number of the island's ancient cedars. It served as the inspiration for the setting of Studio Ghibli’s animated film Princess Mononoke, and you can choose a network of hiking trails that run along the ravine. The green mossy boulders and carelessly wandering deer are enough to stimulate anyone's imagination. Next, you will be visiting the largest waterfall on the island - the magnificent Ohko-no-Taki Waterfall with its 88-metre-high spray. An enormous volume of water drops down from two different streams, and it is truly a sight to behold. You may also catch the beautiful sunset that Yakushima’s beaches are well-known for.
Day 07
Yakushima – Itami – Osaka

With the abundance of waterfalls on the island, Senpiro Falls will give you a fresh start this morning. The name “Senpiro”, or “A Thousand Fathoms”, originates from a story suggesting the granite wall is as wide as one thousand people holding hands in a line. The extremely wet climate of Yakushima means crystal-clear rivers tumble down from the high peaks, resulting in spectacular waterfalls, which carve their way through the granite bedrock. You will see the majestic sight of water plummeting down the huge V-shaped granite wall. We will make a final stop at Yakusugi Land, before leaving the island in the evening. This is another nature park populated by many Yakushima cedars. Take a moment to truly appreciate the forest scenery around you as the ancient trees are impressive in size and the river crossings offer some spectacular views. After that, it is time to bid farewell to the untouched nature of Yakushima and head over to Osaka for the night.

Osaka

After days spent in the idyllic and stunning beauty of Kyushu’s natural environment, it is time to ready yourself up for the vibrancy and bustle of Osaka city on your free day. For those who are in need of shopping therapy, you will want to head over to the station areas and Dotonbori. No visit to Osaka will be complete without trying its famed takoyaki and okonomiyaki right from the food stands. Well, Osaka is well-deserving of its reputation as the Kitchen of Japan and you will definitely enjoy yourself here!
