Day 01
Singapore – Haneda – Fukuoka – Yufuin

Kyushu has a beautiful mix of history, folklore, and natural sights. Begin your road trip at Mameda Town, a beautifully preserved Edo era town that reflect the flourishing market life of the past. Have lunch in the area and continue to Yufuin, a popular hot spring town with many specialty shops, local craft souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants lining on both sides of the picturesque street, making it easy to lose track of time as you walk around. Round up your visit with some picture-prefect moments at Yufuin’s Lake Kinrinko before checking-in to your hotel and relax until time for dinner.
Day 01

Day 02
Yufuin

Visit Shin Yabakei Gorge, a scenic landscape created by the erosion of Yamakuni River through Japan’s largest lava plateau. Here, you can look for the eight huge rocks from the viewing spot of "Hitome Hakkei" before heading to Rakanji Temple, built into and on Mt Rakan mountain. As many as 3,777 stone statues of Buddha are placed in a cave and from the temple as well as the top of the mountain, there is a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and valleys to be enjoyed. Also, visit the 342 meter long Aonodomon tunnel, reportedly dug in 1730 by the legendary monk, Zenkai. Using only chisel and hammer, it suposedly took him 30 years to complete the tunnel! Thereafter, return to your hotel in Yufuin.
Day 03
Yufuin – Aso

Definitely not for the faint-hearted, the Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge is up this morning. Spanning the mountain valley at 390 metres from one end to another and with an elevation of 777 metres, you will feel like you are taking a walk over the forest canopy. The dramatic elevation and slight swaying of the bridge in the wind will make it a thrilling, albeit heart thumping walk. Have lunch at Auberge A ma Facon and then visit Tadewara Wetlands. Tucked into the Kuju mountains, several marked courses will have you treading over the cedar planks of a purpose-built boardwalk that lets you get close-up views of the flowers and plants. Also visit Daikanbo for a spectacular view of the entire caldera and the patchwork patterns of the rice fields before continuing to hotel for check-in.
Day 04
Aso – Miyazaki

The Takachiho Gorge has to be one of Miyazaki prefecture’s most famous sights. The V-shaped gorge has been formed by the Gokase River as it carves its way through the Aso lava. Sheer precipitous cliffs rise up on both sides of the jade green river, narrowing to a mere 3 metres at parts and soaring to over 100 metres at others. Continue to Umagase, at the top of Cape Hyuga, a precipitous cliff of pillar-like rocks, towering as high as 70 meters, and commands an excellent view of the waves below breaking against the rocks before proceeding to Miyazaki for hotel check-in.
Day 05
Miyazaki – Ibusuki

If all the hearty eating is pricking your conscience, the visit to Kakuida Black Vinegar Factory will do you good. They have been making black vinegar for over 200 hundred years and getting an icy-cold glass of this tangy and refreshing health drink is perfect for your body and mind. Have lunch in a local fishermen's restaurant and Visit Nagisa promenade, a pleasant walk which offers a peaceful respite from the busy city & take ferry across to Kagoshima. Ibusuki is where you will spend tonight and whenever in Ibusuki, you must give the Hot Sand Bath a try. You can literally feel all your stress and worries drain away as you lay in the warm sand pits heated by the subterranean geysers.
Day 06
Ibusuki – Kumamoto

Visit Sogi Falls, also referred to as the Niagara of East Asia, and continue to Izumi City Crane Observation Center, a place where migrating cranes use as an annual winter gathering point in Kyushu. Although this spectacle happens daily and it has be seen with your own eyes to be believed. Continue to Kumamoto for hotel check-in and have dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 07
Kumamoto – Nagasaki

Stop by Kumamoto Ferry Port to board the speed craft "Ocean Arrow" to Shimabara and visit Nita Pass, 1,080 above sea level. If you take the Unzen Ropeway up to the top of Mt Myouken, you'll find an observatory with views of the Shimabara town, Fukae-cho and Ariake Sea. Descending from Nita Pass, you will come to Unzen town where you can visit the Unzen Hells. It literally bubbles with activity as sulfurous hot springs erupt into surface cauldrons of scalding water. There are pathways for visitors to walk on that leads through the hot-spring Hells, where sulfur vapors rise thickly to veil pine trees on surrounding hills. Next, stop by a grilled oyster house, filled with a few dozen tables, each with their own grill. You can get kaki (oysters), sazae (sea snails), prawns, fish and other seafood, fresh as fresh can be, and try your hand at grilling your own seafood. Check-in to your hotel and relax till time for dinner.
Day 08
Nagasaki

The city of Nagasaki has a history of exposure to foreign cultures due to its proximity to the Asian mainland and also as one of the few ports open for foreign trade during Japan’s period of isolation. With a full day to spend in Nagasaki, you can first visit the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum where artifacts of the bombing are transformed into pieces of intense emotional power. Next, you can visit the Nagasaki Peace Park which commemorates the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. The 9.7m Peace Statue in the park bears a solemn memory of a heart-rending page of Japan’s history. After that, over at the Glover Garden, European influence is evident in this charming Western-style residence from the Meiji Period and picturesque gardens. Nagasaki Chinatown, also known as Shinchi Chinatown, is Japan's oldest Chinatown. It was established as early as the 17th century because Nagasaki's port remained the country's only major port opened to Chinese trade during Japan’s era of isolation. Over the centuries, the residents of Shinchi Chinatown have bestowed the city of Nagasaki which a Chinese flair not felt in any other of Japan's major cities. Today, Nagasaki's Chinatown is best known for its restaurants and their two most famous local noodle dishes, champon and sara udon.
Day 09
Nagasaki – Hakata

On the route to Hakata today, stop by Okawauchiyama, a small, isolated village hemmed in by steep picturesque mountains and the first place in Japan to produce porcelain. Porcelain was an extremely valuable resource at that time and for that reason, production was guarded very closely and its location kept isolated in order to keep the technology secret. This gave the region the moniker - "Village of the Secret Kilns". Crossing the ceramic arched bridge will bring you to a dense village of historical buildings, working kilns and old fashioned shops. Have lunch in the area and continue to Yanagawa, a city best known for the waterway that crosses it in two directions. To fully appreciate the town's aquatic charm, the boat ride through the picturesque willow-lined canals of the moats built around the Yanagawa castle is the best way. Continue to Hakata for hotel check-in and return car.
