Never mind how many times it has appeared on postcards, paintings, or even the back of the 1,000yen note, Mt Fuji still stirs the spirits of those who visit it. It sweeps up majestically from the Pacific to form a nearly perfect symmetrical cone of 3,776m. You can travel up to Mt Fuji 5th Station to get a better view of the mountain and learn more about the area by driving the Fuji Subaru Line. The line starts from Lake Kawaguchi and stretches to about 30km in length. The end of the line places you almost close enough to grab the summit of Mt Fuji hence a brilliant scenic spot to view the symbolic mountain of Japan. Then you will be going to the Fuji Safari Park on the southern slopes of Mt Fuji. You can drive through the safari zone with your own car and observe the freely roaming animals including lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, rhinoceroses, zebras and bison. After enjoying all the natural landscape, it is time for some shopping before heading into Tokyo. The Gotemba Premium Outlet will be a recommended place to stop over for some outlet shopping. The most popular outlet mall with over 200 stores along with restaurants, a food court and a 50 meter high Ferris wheel, Gotemba is very much considered a ‘shopper’s paradise”.
