Day 01
Bangkok – Chitose – Asahikawa
(D: -/-/-)
Hotel: JR Inn Asahikawa or similar
(Car pick-up at Chitose Airport Branch)
There is probably nothing else that says “Summer” as much as the sprawling fields of sunflowers at the Hokuryu Sunflower Park. Over 1.5 million cheerful blooms turn their heads to the sun and will definitely bring a smile to all the visitors. So get your cameras ready for this spectacular sight. Nature in Hokkaido has also gifted the people with Takasago Sake in Asahikawa. Pure snowmelt from Mt Daisetsu – Hokkaido’s highest mountain – is the reason behind Asahikawa’s thriving sake industry. Housed in a traditional-styled building built way back in 1909, Takasago Sake Brewery will take you through the evolution of sake culture through its antique sake artifacts and bottles. Complete your visit with a tasting session at the end before checking-in to your hotel tonight.
Day 02
Asahikawa – Furano
(D: B/-/-)
Hotel: Furano Hops Hotel or similar
Although the first garden for today literally translates to the Hill of Four Season, summer has to be the best time to be at Shikisai no Oka. Featuring rainbow-coloured flowers coaxed to bloom by the summer heat amidst the gently-rolling hills of Biei, you can fully appreciate the grand nature of Hokkaido today. Continuing on with the theme of Hokkaido’s stunning nature, the Biei Blue Lake is up next. The nature of the minerals in the pond's water has given this pond its mysterious blue colour that changes in intensity depending on the sunlight. The dramatic contrast of the robin-egg blue of the water with the fiery reds of surrounding crisp green foliage will make for one perfect photo opportunity. In the afternoon, you will head off towards Farm Tomita. The image of rows of flowers carpeting the rolling hills of Farm Tomita like a rainbow stretching as far as the eye can see was probably the picture that propelled Hokkaido into worldwide popularity. You will get the chance to see, smell and experience it for yourself today!
Day 03
Furano
(D: B/-/-)
Hotel: Furano Hops Hotel or similar
After spending days looking at Nature’s beauty, it is time to try for yourself some of Nature’s goodness with a visit to the Furano Jam Garden. This is where you will find over 35 different types of handmade jam made from just about every seasonal fruit and vegetable available can be tried freshly off the trees, made into jam and even brought back home. Aside from unbelievably-sweet fruits, Hokkaido is also famous for its dairy products. Before heading back to your hotel, you must schedule for a stop over at Furano Delice. Its double-fromage two-layered cheesecake and “Furano Milk Pudding” are absolutely heavenly. So remember to leave your diet plans behind and reward your tastebuds!
