The seaside town of Kamakura is a great first stop for your journey. Formerly the centre of Japan’s government, numerous temples, shrines and historical sites are located here, including the famous Great Buddha. The 11.4-metre-high bronze statue of Amida Buddha is the second tallest in Japan and has been kept intact since its construction in the mid-13th century, outlasting its surrounding building.
A popular nature site near Tokyo, Mt Takao attracts millions of visitors each year. Take Japan’s steepest cable car incline up the side of the mountain and admire breath-taking views of Tokyo city from the observation deck. Stroll along some of the mountain trails for some exercise and fresh mountain air!
Day 02 (Mon, 10 Jun’19)

Enter the enchanting world of Fuji Kachoen Garden Park, a flower garden and bird sanctuary. See beautiful flowers all year round including fuchsias, unique hydrangeas, and even a Mt Fuji replica made from begonias! Not forgetting our feathered friends, get up close and interact with penguins, emus, flamingos and up to 30 species of owls.
Feast your eyes on one of Japan’s most beautiful waterfalls in the form of Shiraito no Taki. The 150m wide waterfall is made up of snowmelt percolating down from Mt Fuji, finally emerging as a wall of silvery threads falling into a pool of emerald water. Nearby, the Otodome Falls is a stark contrast as a 25m high stream of water crashing down a cliff.
Go melon picking at Izu Fruit Park today! Search for your perfect musk melon from among the many hanging from the vines to bring home as a souvenir and try some of the sweet and juicy fruit on the spot!
Heading to the southern slopes of Mt Fuji, live your safari dreams at Fuji Safari Park! You can drive through the safari zone in your own car and observe animals roaming freely around you! See lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, rhinoceroses, zebras and bison up close on this safari experience!
Day 03 (Tue, 11 Jun’19)

The largest glass museum and shop in Japan, Suwa Glass no Sato showcases and sells a huge variety of glass art and glassware. Not only can you enjoy the different glass works, including Japan’s largest crystal ball, there is also a workshop where you can have a hands-on experience making or decorating glass pieces.
Headquarters of the famous agar-producing company, Kanten Papa Garden is where you can learn all about kanten, a natural gelatine made from seaweed. This healthy, low-calorie agar can be used in a variety of foods and you can pick up various kinds of kanten products here.
Wasabi is an essential accompaniment to sushi and sashimi and today, you can see how it is grown. At Daio Wasabi Farm, Japan’s largest wasabi farm covering 15 hectares, rows of wasabi plants are irrigated using natural spring water from the Northern Alps. Wasabi lovers should not miss out on trying the wasabi soft serve and other wasabi-themed products available here.

Omachi – Tateyama - Omachi

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is a scenic route that traverses Mt Tateyama, Mt Akazawadake and Kurobe gorge. It is crossed using a variety of transportation, including one of the few trolley busses remaining in Japan, an underground cable car, and Japan’s only unsupported ropeway. Bursting forth with fresh greenery, you can admire the views of the mountain brimming with new life in this season as you make your way through the Alpine Route. Immerse yourself in wonderous nature, spectacular sights, and crisp mountain air!
Day 05 (Thu, 13 Jun’19)
Omachi – Myoko

Located at the base of a mountain, Togakushi Shrine consists of a lower, middle and upper shrine, each housing different gods. A short hike is needed to reach the upper shrine, but the pathways lined with 400-year-old cedar trees and towering Mt. Togakushi in the background make the walk particularly beautiful.
Take a walk around Obuse Town, an artistic town known for chestnuts and sake. Stroll down Obuse’s chestnut path, lined with traditional white-walled houses with tiled roofs and brick chimneys, taking in the romantic feel of the town. As the last residence of Japan’s premier ukiyo-e artist, Hokusai, his art can be seen at the Hokusai Museum and Takai Kozan Memorial Museum.
Day 06 (Fri, 14 Jun’19)
Myoko – Toyama

The Joetsu Aquarium connects you with the wonders of the Sea of Japan. In fact, one highlight of the aquarium is a terrace where the water from the aquarium seemingly connects with the sea outside. See the various marine life that inhabit the sea from all different angles and get up close to cute beluga whales, dolphins and Megallanic penguins.
Try looking for some precious stones at Hisui Beach! Translating to ‘jade beach’, it is so named as jade is sometimes found along the shores of this rocky beach. Even if you do not come across any jade here, you can still enjoy views of the mountains sloping down to the sea.
The Toyama Bay is known for hotaruika, luminescent firefly squid that can be seen in the bay in the dark of night each spring. At the Hotaruika Museum, you can learn about these fantastic creatures through displays and videos and see light emission shows by similarly luminescent plankton.
Day 07 (Sat, 15 Jun’19)
Toyama – Haneda – Singapore

Indulge in a spot of shopping at Mitsui Outlet Park Hokuriku Oyabe. This two-storey outlet mall houses 173 shops carrying trendy Japanese and foreign fashion brands, famous sports brands, fashion accessories and gourmet food. As Hokuriku’s first outlet mall, it also sells a variety of local products from the region.
Similar to the more famous village of Shirakawago, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gokayama is also filled with gassho-zukuri houses with sloping straw roofs. A former production centre for explosives during the Edo period, Gokayama was a highly valued and protected area that flourished with a rich culture and heritage that continues to be preserved today.
While in Nanto, be sure to check out Inami wood carvings. Originating from Toyama, this traditional Japanese craft is marked by superior craftsmanship and attention to detail. Carved from a single piece of wood, skilled craftsmen use up to 200 chisels and other tools to create intricate pieces of art, taking into consideration the angles in which they will be viewed.
