Day 01
Singapore – Nagoya – Shima

Arriving at Toba today, a visit to one of the most recognizable symbol of Mie is up. Believed to be able to bless marriages, the Meoto Iwa are two sacred rocks in the sea near the small town of Futami. Also known as the “wedded rocks”, the larger of the two stands at 9 meters tall and has a torii gate on its peak; while the smaller rock measures 3.6 meters high. These two rocks are joined by the distinctive sacred ropes made of braided rice stalks that are particular to Shinto Shrines. Before checking-in to your hotel for tonight, you will visit the Toba Observatory for a stunning view of the Ise Bay of the Pacific Ocean.
Day 02
Shima

Home of the world-renowned Mikimoto Pearls, the Mikimoto Pearl Island is where Mr Kokichi Mikimoto became the world’s first to succeed in culturing pearls in 1893. The museum on the island showcases the beautiful cultured pearls and you can also watch the Ama, female pearl divers, demonstrate their traditional method of free-diving for pearls. Continue on to the Ise Shrine where you can enjoy shopping for local crafts and seasonal produce at the Okage Yokocho. Over 50 shops and restaurants are packed into this charming street that maintains the traditional atmosphere of Ise way back in the Edo period.
Day 03
Shima – Matsuzaka – Iga – Shiga

Leaving the Shima city for Matsuzaka this morning, you will be visiting the Matsuzaka Agricultural Park “Bell Farm”. Here, countless local foods and handicrafts make for good presents for friends and family back home. Continuing on to the Seki-juku, you can feel the breath of old times drifting quietly in the air here of the 47th post town along the Tokaido road – one of the most important roads in the Edo period that connects Kyoto to Edo. Next, you will enter the mysterious world of Ninjas at the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum. The Iga School of Ninjutsu (Art of Stealth) used to be one of Japan’s two leading schools in the feudal era. Revolving walls, trap doors, and cleverly-hidden compartments are all waiting to be discovered!
Day 04
Shiga – Kyoto

A place that needs little introduction, you will begin today at Kinkakuji. With its top two floors completely covered in gold leaf, the Golden Pavilion bears testament to the extravagance of Kyoto’s wealthy aristocrats in the Edo period. Go even further back in time at Kiyomizu Temple. It was established in 778, even before Kyoto became the capital of Japan. One of the most famous representations of Kyoto is the sight of Kiyomizu Temple’s stage jutting defiantly out of the side of the Otawa mountain, supported by huge 13 meter Japanese Zelkova pillars and a feat of engineering as not a single nail was used in the construction of this stunning architecture.
Day 05
Kyoto

When in Arashiyama, there is one thing that you definitely have to do – ride on the scenic Torokko train! You can feel the tranquility setting in as this retro-fitted steam train winds its way through forested ravine along the Hozugawa river. Coming back to Arashiyama at the end of the train ride, you will visit the Togetsu Bridge, an iconic landmark of Arashiyama. Spanning the Kastura River and with the rolling mountains as a spectacular backdrop, this is one of the best places to take in the scenic beauty of Arashiyama. After a day spent soaking in the natural scenery of Kyoto, you will head back to the city and visit Shijo Kawaramachi which is Kyoto’s bustling shopping district where the neon lights of the towering buildings co-exist with the old book stores and traditional printmakers.
Day 06
Kyoto – Osaka

Start your journey into Japan’s historical and cultural heart over at Nara. Japan’s first permanent capital was established here in year 710, way before Kyoto became the seat of the emperor. You can stretch your legs over at the Nara Park, where over 1,200 adorable deer graze the spacious lawns. Many have tried ice cream-making and even sushi-making in Japan. However, how about trying out some somen-making? Learn all the intricate steps behind the making of these thin white noodles and you can also get to eat these results of your labour afterwards!
Day 07
Osaka

After spending days immersed in the historic and cultural variety of Mie and Kyoto, it is time for a free day in Osaka! For those who are in need of shopping therapy, you will find the widest variety over at the station areas and of course over at Dotonbori. No visit to Osaka will be complete without trying its famed takoyaki and okonomiyaki right from the food stands. Well, Osaka is well-deserving of its reputation as the “Kitchen of Japan” and you will definitely enjoy yourself!
Day 08
Osaka – Kansai – Singapore
Flight back to Singapore.
