The royal residence of the Imperial Family, the Imperial Palace is located where the Edo castle used to be. Although the castle no longer exists, some of the castle walls, moats, gates and guardhouses remain. Take a tour to see the palace this morning and walk the sprawling grounds of the beautiful East Gardens.
Continuing on to Shinjuku Gyoen, take a walk around the peaceful garden located in the heart of the city. Consisting of a Japanese, English and French garden, Shinjuku Gyoen is a wonderful escape from the bustle of the city into nature. Take a pleasant stroll around the ponds, pavilions, lawns, greenhouse, and curated trees and shrubs and enjoy the cherry blossoms that fill the park, marking the advent of spring.

Pay a visit to one of Tokyo’s fish markets this morning, where fresh seafood and produce are brought in daily. Walk around the market as your special guide, a sushi chef, shows you the ins and outs of the place. After an educational tour of the market, take part in a sushi making experience and try your hand at crafting Japan’s signature dish. Savour the fruits of your labour in a sushi lunch where you can truly enjoy your food with the knowledge of the full process that went behind making it.
Complete your meal with a sake pairing, complementing the fresh seafood with some delicious sake to bring out the best flavours. Up the ante with fugu tasting, a valuable delicacy which requires careful preparation, years of training, and even a license to serve. With all that goes into this meal, you can be sure that it will be one to remember.
After your sushi experience, you will have some free and easy time to explore Tokyo on your own.

This morning, take a bullet train to Kyoto where you will visit the Philosopher’s Path, a stone path along a canal that is said to have been regularly used by one of Japan’s great philosophers, Nishida Kitaro. Do as he did and meditate as you walk along the well-worn path while a gentle stream flows alongside and flowers from hundreds of cherry trees hang overhead.
Day 04 (Fri, 29 Mar’19)

Arashiyama on the outskirts of Kyoto is a popular scenic district at the base of the Arashiyama mountains. Walk along the streets lined with shops selling all kinds of snacks and souvenirs, and stop by the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, not forgetting the famed bamboo groves, undoubtedly the highlight of Arashiyama. One activity that is a must here is taking a ride on the scenic Torokko Train! This retro-fitted steam train winds its way leisurely through a forested ravine along the Hozugawa river, allowing passengers to fully enjoy the gorgeous spring sights and natural scenery.
Later, you will learn how to make Kyoto’s traditional Kyogashi in a Japanese sweets making experience. Made only in traditional Japanese sweet shops in Kyoto, Kyogashi are crafted to reflect the seasons and complement the tea it is usually eaten with. Learn how to make these beautiful sweets under the guidance of instructors and enjoy your final product with a bowl of tea after!

One of Kyoto’s most famous sights, Fushimi Inari Shrine is well known for its thousands of bright red torii gates leading up the mountain. Walk through the tunnels of torii gates which make excellent backdrops for photos and visit the most important shrine to Inari, the god of rice, here.
You might recognise this next place from the back of the 10-yen coin, the Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple is a spectacular building with two phoenix statues on its roof. The brilliant red hall itself is said to resemble a phoenix and is a magnificent sight.
Journeying into Osaka, stop at Yodogawa Riverside Park, one of the most popular spots for viewing cherry blossoms. Over 250 cherry trees line the riverbank, creating a spectacular tunnel of cherry blossoms when in full bloom.
