Day 02
Haneda – Kinugawa Onsen

Proceed to collect car and take a drive to Nikko. Main sightseeing places will be in Nikko where we will visit sights like Nikko Toshogu Shrine, a lavishly decorated shrine complex consists of more than a dozen buildings set in a beautiful forest. Take a drive on the Iroha Winding Road, a pair of winding roads which consist of 48 hairpin turns and visit the Akechidaira Plateau where its observation deck offer views over the Irohazaka and the valley below. Also visit the 100 meter tall Kegon Waterfall, the most famous of Nikko's many beautiful waterfalls and even ranked as one of Japan's three most beautiful falls. Nearby our hotel, you may want to consider stopping by the Kinu-Tateiwa-Otsuribashi Suspension Bridge, a 140-meter-long suspension bridge suspended forty meters above the Kinugawa river. Take in marvellous views of the ever-changing scenery of the mountains.

Kinugawa Onsen – Minakami Onsen

Check-out of hotel and visit the Senjogahara Marshland that is particularly beautiful during the autumn leaf season in October when the marshland's grasses turn into a reddish yellow and the larch trees into a shiny gold. Stopping next at Fukiware Falls, you can get really close to this spectacular falls by using a footpath along Katashina River. There is an observatory a small distance away and many visitors come here when autumn arrived. Arriving at Takuminosato, you will find houses for ateliers of various crafts scattered throughout this scenically situated mountain village. You may want to take a stroll through this popular spot and see artisan craftsmanship and even experience making traditional craftworks originating in ancient Japan before check-in to your hotel.
Day 04
Minakami Onsen – Yahiko

After check-out, stop by Tsukiyono Vidro Park, a leading handmade glass factory with a glass studio, a museum of glass art and a workshop to experience glassmaking if you like. Continue to Kiyotsu Gorge, ranked as one of the three great canyons of Japan. It’s 750m walkway tunnel runs through four different places where the rugged grandeur of the canyon’s beauty can be safely admired. And if you were to stop by Nishikigoi, you can learn about the entire history of Japanese Koi in under 40 minutes. The indoor aquarium is also a breeding area where carp are kept for a few more months until they reach the desired size of the breeder. At the Yahiko Sanjo Park near our hotel, you can enjoy a great view of the Echigo Plains and Sado Island.

Day 06
Yahiko – Shibu Onsen

Visiting the Teradomari market today, you can find fresh, affordable seafood on display throughout the year. This fish market is a cluster of several small wholesale markets each with dozens of individual vendors selling fresh and frozen fish and delicious, char-grilled skewers of seasonal fish and shellfish. Vendors line the streets, displaying trays and trays of grilled snapper, eel, prawns, scallops, fishcakes, squid, and much more. Keep an eye out for a local specialty catch called "nodoguro" otherwise known as a rosy sea bass, from the Sea of Japan while you are here. Make a stop next at Naena Falls in Myoko before continuing to Jigokudani Yaenkoen (Snow Monkey Park) to see the Japanese Macaques enjoying their bath in a natural hot spring pool before check-in to our hotel.
Day 07
Shibu Onsen – Takayama

Leaving Shibu onsen, we will stop by Obuse Town, a pretty town with "pocket parks" and well known for its seasonal produce, especially the locally grown chestnuts. Continue to Kamikochi, with some of Japan's most spectacular mountain scenery and particularly beautiful during the autumn foliage season, which usually peaks in mid-October. The simplest way to enjoy a day here is by hiking the trails along Azusa River from Taisho Pond to Myojin Bridge which is a mostly flat terrain and requires no hiking experience and only a few hours of time. Check-in to your hotel in Takayama and relax till time for dinner.
Day 08
Takayama – Okuhida

Spend the better part of the morning to fully enjoy Takayama by visiting its attractions like Miyagawa Market that sell local crafts, snacks and farm products such as vegetables, pickles and flowers. The beautifully preserved, old town's area and especially the Sannomachi Street should also not be missed as stroll through it will allow you to see many old homes, shops, coffee houses and sake breweries, some of which have been in business for centuries. After lunch, continue to Shin Hodaka Ropeway, one of Japan's most unique ropeways with one of the largest elevation gains in the country. The upper station is equipped with an observation deck that provide spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Check-in to your hotel and relax till time for dinner.
Day 09
Okuhida – Toyama

Leaving our hotel, we will take a drive all the way to Kurobe Gorge, a beautiful, forested ravine in the rugged mountains of the Northern Japan Alps. Cut by the Kurobe River, it is one of the deepest gorges in Japan. Its steep, nearly vertical cliffs, untouched virgin forests, and outdoor hot springs have made it a famous destination to see natural scenic beauty. The main attraction of the gorge is the Kurobe Gorge Railway, a sightseeing train that operates along a winding, 20 kilometer stretch between Unazuki and Keyakidaira Stations. This exciting 80-minute journey leads across more than 20 bridges and through over 40 tunnels, and offers visitors panoramic views of the gorge below. The trains stop at a few stations along the way where visitor can get off and explore. Continue to Toyama for hotel check-in and free at own leisure.

Visiting Nanto city today, we will join the locals for a simple gathering to experience some locally arranged activities in the area before we continue for a drive along the Hakusan Shirakawa White Road (Formerly the Hakusan Super Forest Road) across to Kanazawa. This sightseeing toll road is especially popular during the autumn month with spectacular viewpoints, waterfalls and rest area to stop by.

Day 12
Yamashiro Onsen – Lake Biwa

Fresh seafood markets are always good to visit. At Nihonkai Sakanamachi, consists of row of more than 60 shops, a great variety of fresh, reasonably priced seafood and souvenirs can be found here. As you continue to Mikata Five Lakes, a wetland area registered under the Ramsar Convention, you can enjoy beautiful landscapes and even go for a boat ride to see the amazing nature. Stopping at Kumagawa-juku Historic Post Town, you can see the remain of a magistrate’s office, a guard house, and a treasury store house among quaint old houses on the street with a time-honored irrigation ditch by the side of the street through which clear water runs. This town was once used to provide Kyoto with a wide variety of seafood, earning in the nickname of the “Saba-kaido Road”.

Lake Biwa – Amanohashidate

Leaving Biwako, we will drive to Amanohashidate, a beautiful, three kilometer long isthmus that spans the mouth of Miyazu Bay. Roughly translating to "bridge to heaven", it is said that the sandbar resembles a meandering pathway connecting heaven and earth when it is viewed from the mountains at either end of the bay. The narrow sandbar is lined with nearly 8000 pine trees and is considered among Japan's finest pine tree spots. A tranquil dirt road runs underneath the trees for the length of the sandbar and takes about 45 minutes to walk end to end. Alternatively, it takes about 15 minutes to cross on bicycle. On the mountain slope on the opposite side of the bay lies Kasamatsu Park which is accessible by chairlift or cable car. From here the sandbar is said to look like the kanji for "one" (一). The traditional way to view the sandbar is to turn your back towards the bay, bend over and look at it from between your legs. Called "matanozoki", this practice originated at this park, and has been followed for over a millennium. Continuing on to Ine, you will find a working town with a long and rich history as a fishing village and is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Japan. The unique aspect of Ine are its funaya. Literally meaning "boat houses", these traditional waterfront buildings contain garages for boats on their first floors and residential space on the upper floors. The best way to see Ine and its funaya houses is by taking a boat cruise. Large sightseeing boats take passengers on a 25-minute loop around the bay while smaller sea taxis operated by local fishermen offer a slightly more personalized. Unlike the large sightseeing cruises, the small boat tours require reservations beforehand.

On the way back to Osaka, stop by Kobe Sanda Premium Outlet to enjoy shopping. This place probably has everything that you need when it comes to bags, shoes and clothes, if you are lucky enough you can get very big discount off the original price. So, even if you do not plan to buy much, you will end up buying things because of the low prices. You can consider buying Japanese brands here as some brands have unique collection only found in Japan. On arrival at your hotel, deposit your luggage and proceed to return car to Toyota.
