Arriving into Memanbetsu Airport in the afternoon today, you can start off by having a taste of the Hokkaido seafood. Hokusho Suisan is famous for its scallop. Over here, you can have grilled scallop at very reasonable price, and buy some dried scallop home if you like. Their scallop burger is a must-try too! Next up, Cape Notoro is one of the most famous scenic spots in the Abashiri area throughout the year. See the massive Sea of Okhotsk spreading out around you, as well as the majestic Shiretoko Mountain Range. If you are lucky you may even spot Steller's sea eagles flying above you!

Abashiri – Engaru

Bihoro Pass is a viewing spot located in the western side of the Lake Kussharo. The observatory stands at 525 metres above sea level and is popular for looking over Lake Kussharo and the various small islands. The vast panorama nature view will surely impress you. Lake Mashu is another caldera lake you will be visiting in the afternoon, and its water is ranked one of the clearest in the world. Known as “Kamuy-tou” to the Ainu people, which means “Lake of the Gods” in their language, the lake is dominated by sheer cliffs of over 300 metres in height all around. This has to be one of Hokkaido’s most breath-taking sights. Moving away from the wonders of Hokkaido’s nature for a while, you will find your childhood days at Cha Cha World – the Museum of Worldwide Wooden Toys. Inside, you will find an incredible art gallery by master shadow artist Seiji Fujishiro. Over 60 shadow pictures of varying sizes are displayed in a dark space, showcasing their magical hues of the murals. Apart from those, you can also find numerous elaborate wooden block displays and old-fashioned Japanese wooden toys in the museum. Before retiring to the comfortable Maure Sanso tonight, don’t miss the opportunity to do some star-gazing over the beautiful sky. You may see a sky full of stars at this serene part of Hokkaido.
Day 03
Engaru – Asahikawa

Formed by the Ishikawa River’s relentless path through the Daisetsu Mountain range, Sounkyo is one of Japan’s largest canyons. Out of all the waterfalls here, Ginga & Ryusei are the two most beautiful and the staggering sight of water thundering down the unforgiving 90 meter rocky cliffs is truly unforgettable. After that, as part of our FMJ Engaru activity day, we are going to have a special barbeque lunch at Heiwayama Park. Enjoy the delightful park sceneries while having a sumptuous meal! The next place is a very interesting and unusual museum with ice and coldness as the main themes. Even when the temperature hits 30 degrees Celsius in the summertime outside, just step through the doors of the Kamikawa Ice Pavilion and you will see pillars of ice and experience a stunning minus 41-degree temperature! It is the coldest observation of the temperature conditions in Japan history. But fret not as an overcoat will be provided free to you for keeping out the cold.
Day 04
Asahikawa – Obihiro

One garden you cannot miss when visiting Hokkaido is Shikisai no Oka. Literally translates to the “Hill of Four Seasons”, Shikisai no Oka can be visited any time of the year. Featuring flowers coaxed to bloom under the clear blue sky over an area equivalent to 3 Tokyo Domes, you can fully appreciate the grand nature of Hokkaido today. Later on you will pass by the Furano Jam Factory where over 35 different kinds of jam made from just about every fruit and vegetable in the area can be seen, tried and bought!
Day 05
Obihiro – Sapporo

Nothing beats experiencing Mother Nature than getting up close and personal with her inhabitants. At the Sahoro Bear Mountain, visitors get to see Hokkaido's large brown bears roam free in the forest. With various trails, a bear point and bear watching bus, you will not be bored! Before heading to Sapporo today, you can spend some time in Otaru. Firstly for lunch you can enjoy a truly Hokkaido meal of sushi. Otaru is famous for its sushi street that houses unpretentious sushi restaurants with only the freshest seafood as their ingredients. With a rich history that dates back to its early days as a major herring centre and the terminal station for Hokkaido’s first railroad, Otaru’s charming buildings now houses whimsical music box museums, patisseries with absolutely-tempting cream puffs and also those selling intricate glassware ornaments.

Hit the Ramen Republic tonight for a steaming bowl of delicious miso ramen to complete your experience in Hokkaido!
