The first stop of the tour will be at one of Fukuoka’s must-visit sites, Daizaifu Shrine. One of the most important Tenmangu shrines, it is dedicated to scholar Sugaware Michizane, associated with the Shinto deity of education, making it particularly popular among students praying for academic success. Regular visitors can also enjoy the beautiful shrine grounds and shopping street leading up to it.
Have a good lunch and get some rest this afternoon, or spend some time exploring the many sights and shops around Hakata City ahead of your train journey tomorrow.

This morning, you will get on board the Luxury Cruise Train Seven Stars in Kyushu, Japan’s first luxury train and its answer to the Orient Express. Akin to a museum on wheels, the train is decked out in Kyushu’s finest crafts, including exquisite porcelain basins, the final works of former Japanese National Living Treasure Sakaida Kakiemon the 14th, and elegant Okawa kumiko latticed wood panels. Bringing you on a journey through Kyushu’s glorious sights in style and comfort, the warm wooden interiors of the train are matched by the hospitality of the onboard staff and welcoming locals who take great pride in the Seven Stars visiting their hometowns.
Begin with a Welcome Ceremony at the Seven Stars’ exclusive pre-departure lounge at Hakata Station before embarking on your journey. Bringing you first to the historical Moji Port, home of Kyushu’s first railway company, you will delve into the history of the area and train travel in Kyushu. Back on board, guests are given the option to take part in Shichitoui Crafting where you can learn to use local shichitoui plants to weave small coasters and other crafts.
Savour the tastes of Kyushu on board in the comfortable dining car “Jupiter” where seasonal ingredients are whipped into delectable meals to tantalise your palate. Featuring menus by some of Kyushu’s top chefs, dine on carefully curated meals prepared for you on board.
Day 03 (Wed, 01 Apr’20)

Waking up in Aso this morning, early risers have the option of visiting Kusasenri, a grassy plateau overlooked by Mt Aso where cows and horses graze. Continuing your travel on board the train, take in the views of Mt Aso’s five peaks and smoking crater as the scenery rolls by at a leisurely pace. Arriving next at Yufuin, one of Kyushu’s famous hot spring resort towns, stop by the peaceful Lake Kirinko and other less well-known spots in town before heading to your ryokan for the night.

Yufuin – Miyazaki – Kagoshima

Traveling down to Southern Kyushu today, admire the beautiful scenery of the Hyuga-nada Sea as you cruise along the eastern coast. Stopping over in Miyazaki, you will have the option of taking a trip out to Tsuno Winery, makers of some of Kyushu’s best wine, or staying on board to experience kumiko wooden lattice crafts, a style of wood crafting with consists of joining precisely cut pieces of wood into elaborate designs, many of which decorate the Seven Stars.
Day 05 (Fri, 03 Apr’20)

For the final leg of your journey on the Seven Stars, travel back north along one of Japan’s most scenic train lines and enjoy the experience that only train travel can offer. Those who wish to can join an optional tour to the Aoi Aso Shrine to admire this National Treasure and home of the guardian deity of the Kuma region of Kumamoto. Before your journey on the Seven Stars comes to an end, bid farewell to the onboard crew and relish in the shared memories created in a farewell event before disembarking at Hakata station.
