Reykjavik – Golden Circle – Reykjavík
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Hotel Rangá or similar
Start today by going round Iceland’s golden circle! First up is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of rugged nature and beautiful scenery. This massive park where the tectonic plates meet is home to rift walls and lava plains and was the setting for the Viking parliament. Following that is a visit to Geysir, a hot spring area where you can see geysers erupt every few minutes. Each of the steaming spring pools in the area has different characteristics, from mineral blue water to muddy, bubbling ponds, with the occasional bursts of hot water into the air. Next, the ever impressive Gullfoss is a two-tier waterfall set in a deep canyon along the Hvítá river, fed by Iceland’s second biggest glacier, Langjökull. With its stunning views and magnificent spray, it is no wonder that the roaring 32 metre falls is one of Iceland’s most visited sights. Later, take part in a Geothermal Bakery Experience using geothermal energy from the hot springs of Laugarvatn to bake bread. In the afternoon, drop by Friðheimar, a unique tomato farm and horse stable where delicious tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs are grown in greenhouses and the majesty of Icelandic horses can be seen up close.
Day 03 (Mon, 08 Jul’19)
Reykjavík – Hvolsvöllur – Öræfi
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon or similar
Head along the south coast and see a few of Iceland’s magnificent waterfalls. Walk behind the curtain of Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall in a beautiful meadow, for a breath-taking view from the other side. Get up close to the spray of the mighty Skógafoss and feel its power amid the roar of water plunging 60 metres down. Continue on to the Black Sand Beach of Reynisfjara, once ranked as one of the top 10 non-tropical beaches in the world. The volcanic beach, created by rapidly cooled lava, is surrounded by spectacular basalt cliffs, columns and caves. The violent, rolling waves that crash on this dark shore make the view extra dramatic and impressive.
Visiting the LAVA Centre this afternoon, you can learn how Iceland was formed by volcanic eruptions and seismic activity over millions of years ago. The interactive displays will show how nature’s forces formed the earth as we know it and Iceland’s monitoring systems to combat natural disasters.
Day 04 (Tue, 09 Jul’19)
Öræfi – Vatnajökull – Höfn
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Fosshotel Vatnajökull or similar
Today begins with a hike on one of the biggest glaciers in Europe, Vatnajökull. Hiding mountains, valleys, plateaus, caverns and even active volcanoes under the ice, learn about the secrets of the glacier on your hike and be awed at the wonders of nature. After a good walk, have a relaxing adventure sailing on Jökulsárlón, the “glacier lagoon”. Located on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, Jökulsárlón is the deepest lake in Iceland and ever increasing in size as the glaciers melt. Sail through a maze of floating icebergs on the blue waters of the lagoon and keep an eye out for possible seal sightings!

Höfn – Stöðvarfjörður – Fáskrúðsfjörður
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Admire the stunning scenery and undulating coastline of the East Fjords today. Replete with quaint villages, lighthouses, rugged fjords and coastal roads along steep cliffs, the sweeping views here will take your breath away. Make a stop in the small town of Stöðvarfjörður to admire Petra’s Stone Collection, an assortment of rare stones and minerals collected from surrounding areas over local resident Petra’s lifetime.

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Heading north, you will pass by more stunning landscapes, including desert-like regions before arriving at Lake Mývatn, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful parts of Iceland. Created by volcanic activity around 2,300 years ago, the lake remains geothermally active and contains numerous geological formations that are home to a large number of birdlife.
In the evening, have a relaxing soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths. The mystical atmosphere created by clouds of steam rising from the warm bath and from fissures in the earth’s surface will make you feel like you are in another world as you swim in the mineral-rich water.
Day 07 (Fri, 12 Jul’19)
Mývatn – Akureyri – Siglufjörður
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Sigló Hotel or similar
Exploring Mývatn, see the “dark castles” of Dimmuborgir, strange lava formations spread over a large area, and the pseudo craters of Skútustaðir, created by gas explosions. As you journey towards Akureyri, the capital of the North and Iceland’s second largest city, make a stop at Goðafoss, the “waterfall of the gods” to see one of the most spectacular, and historically significant, falls in Iceland. Finally, enjoy some wildlife with a whale watching trip at the best location to experience whales in the world, Northern Iceland.

Passing through northwest Iceland today, you will encounter the friendly towns of Hofsós, a historical trading port, and Sauðárkrókur, a farming and fishing village, before heading to the mighty Kolugljúfur canyon where a giantess was said to have resided. On the way to the hotel, make a stop at Glanni waterfall, a pretty cascade surrounded by lava fields and rumoured to be home to elves and trolls.
Day 09 (Sun, 14 Jul’19)
Stórarjóður – Langjökull – Reykjavík
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Hotel: Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina or similar
Visiting the west side of Langjökull glacier, you will head into its depths through a man-made ice tunnel. Go up to 30m deep into the ice-cold heart of the glacier and witness as the ice transforms from white to brilliant blue with increasing depth. Move onwards to Reykholt, best known as the home of one of the most famous medieval authors, Snorri Sturluson. Thanks to him, the town is filled with history and culture, including one of the oldest geothermal pools that is named after him, the Snorralaug. Later, drop by the Hraunfossar Waterfalls, a series of falls emerging from beneath the Hallmundarhraun lava field. Trickling down from the moss-covered lava field, the waterfalls stretch along the Hvítá river for almost one kilometre.
Day 10 (Mon, 15 Jul’19)
Reykjavík
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

The site of the first Viking settlement on the island, the city’s Historic Midtown and Harbour bustle with activity, while Nordic history and culture is expounded on in museums nearby. Admire the old-style wooden houses, topped with colourful corrugated iron and stroll around the main shopping areas.
Later, luxuriate at the famous Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s premier geothermal spa known for its bright blue waters. Created by superheated sea water collecting in lava cavities, the mineral-rich water is said to cure skin ailments. Soak in the geothermal pools and rejuvenate yourself!
