Make your first stop of the trip at the Yobuko Morning Market. One of the three biggest morning markets in Japan, Yobuko Market has been open almost every day since the Taisho period, selling fresh seafood, locally-grown vegetables, flowers and other food products and souvenirs. Stroll down the approximately 200m long morning market street and soak in the lively atmosphere. Be sure to try freshly caught squid, a speciality of Yobuko, too.
Next, visit Amanatsu Kachan, maker of the famous Amanatsu Jelly, to try its speciality product. The jelly is made from locally grown Amanatsu citrus and does not contain any additives or preservatives, creating a safe, high quality product. The juice of the fruit is used to make the jelly, while half of the citrus peel is used as the container for this sweet and tangy dessert.
Oyster huts are well known in this area and worth stopping at to have a meal of fresh oysters and other seafood. Usually open for only a few months a year when oysters are in season, these cosy huts sell freshly caught oysters, seafood, and sometimes even meat. Make your selection and settle down at one of the grills where you can enjoy cooking and eating fresh seafood on the spot.

Takeo - Nagasaki - Takeo
(Drive: Breakfast/-/Dinner)
Hotel: Shunkei-ya (4 star) Ogiya (5 star option)
A “little Europe” in Japan, Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park modelled after Holland in the middle ages. The western architecture, canals, gardens and windmills will make you feel like you have been transported to a different country. Immerse yourself in the European atmosphere and have fun at the various theme park attractions including gondola rides down the canal, thrill rides and virtual reality games.
Head to the Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort and pay a visit to the Kujukushima Aquarium. Here you can observe the sea of Kujukushima Bay from the bottom up at its large aquarium, and take part in a pearl harvesting experience. Marvel at the magnificent sea creatures of the bay and try your hand at opening oyster shells and harvesting the pearls inside. Following that, get up close to the islands dotting the bay on the Kujukushima Cruise. Although its name means “99 islands”, there are in fact only 208 islands in Kujukushima Bay. Nonetheless, the various formations and rock patterns of the islands provide scenic views as you meander round them on a stylish cruise boat.

Takeo - Fukuoka
(Drive: Breakfast/Lunch/-)

Get ready for a special activity today, one that is not commonly experienced by city dwellers – a rice harvesting event! Tachibana in Takeo City is home to Saga Biyori, one of the best rice varieties in Japan. Ranked as a Special A grade rice for three consecutive years, Saga Biyori is of such high quality that it is used on the prestigious luxury cruise train Seven Stars. Today, pay a visit to rice fields owned by Follow Me Japan to try harvesting this high-grade rice for yourself!
Receive a warm welcome from the mayor and residents of Takeo, including farmers and agricultural experts, before heading into the fields where rice planted by FMJ customers earlier this year is waiting to be harvested. Lean how to gather and cut rice stalks by hand, and try driving a rice harvesting tractor. Of course, the visit would not be complete without having a taste of this delicious rice for yourself!
